Concept / book design / lay out.
A book that was released as part of the Milk Colors project by fashion designer Aziz Bekkaoui. The book, that has two covers and can be read in two directions, is written by Mustafa Stitou (poems) and Tijs Goldschmidt and was released on December 7 2011 at the Dairy Gala in Rotterdam. The cover was printed in letterpress on a Heidelberg.

Een boek uitgegeven als onderdeel van het project 'Melkkleuren' dat is geïnitieerd door modeontwerper Aziz Bekkaoui. Het boek, dat twee omslagen heeft en vanuit twee richtingen gelezen kan worden, is geschreven door Mustafa Stitou (Koeiensuite, gedichten) en Tijs Goldschmidt (Boeteboeners) en werd op 7 december 2011 gepresenteerd tijdens het Melkgala in Rotterdam. Jasser Mansoer, a Palestinian actor living in the Netherlands, is in his dressing room, preparing to go on stage to play Shylock, the Jew in Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.
He is frustrated with always being cast to play Jewish characters. Even more frustrating is the fact that he never got the chance to play his namesake Yasser Arafat. He did play Arafat once, but that was a long time ago, when he was a little boy playing on the street with his friends. In those days he would also play Rabin.

Het woordbeeld bestaat voor de helft uit een Arabische letterstijl en voor de andere helft uit een Hebreeuwse letterstijl. Ook ondersteboven blijft het leesbaar als 'Jasser'.
In zijn kleedkamer bereidt de Palestijns-Nederlandse acteur Jasser Mansoer zich voor op Shakespeares 'De koopman van Venetië' waarin hij de Jood Shylock speelt. Frustrerend vindt hij het dat hij telkens voor Joodse rollen wordt gecast. Nog teleurstellender is het dat hij nooit écht zijn naamgenoot Yasser Arafat heeft kunnen spelen, alleen vroeger op straat met zijn vriendjes.
